From Dale Bargmann, Hosanna Parish Communications.

A few things that need special attention this weekend before Thanksgiving:

From Kathryn Tart: “Bread of Life Clinic for homeless men is in need of new or used men’s shoes. Please place the men’s shoes in a designated box in the narthex.

Annual Advent Workshop is ths Sunday at 6:30 PM. Cost: $15 per family. Bring cookies to share.

Northwest Assistance Ministries badly needs volunteer drivers for Meals on Wheels. Just 1 day a month for about 2 hours. Training is provided.

A couple of the ladies in Hosanna's ESL program are available to do babysitting, house cleaning or office cleaning. Look at the Bulletin Board in "This Week at Hosanna" for details.

Sunday, December 3, another important Congregation Meeting at 11 AM worship. There will be food as usual. The agenda includes: 2007 spending priorities, Pastor Tart's summer sabbatical and "For the good of the church" open forum. Come with ideas.

Today was the deadline for December Hotline articles. I plan to have it in the mail this coming Wednesday.

A Little Humor:

A Sunday school teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most quoted passages in the Bible, Psalm 23. She gave the youngsters amonth to learn the verse. Little Rick was excited but he just couldn't remember the Psalm. After much practice, he could barely get past the first line.

On the day the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23 in front of the congregation, Rickey was nervous. When it was his turn, he stepped up to the microphone and said proudly, "The Lord is my Shepherd, and that's all I need to know."

Pray for those who grieve. Pray for those who are ill. Pray for the church everywhere. Pray for an end to violence in the Middle East, North Korea and here at home.

A LITTLE MILITARY HUMOR IN HONOR OF VETERANS DAY:

Having just moved into his new office, a newly promoted colonel was sitting at his desk when a corporal knocked on the door.
Conscious of his new position, the colonel quickly picked up the phone, told the corporal to enter, then said into the phone, "Yes, General, I'll be seeing him this afternoon and I'll pass along your message. In the meantime, thank you for your good wishes, sir."Feeling as though he had sufficiently impressed the young corporal, he asked, "What do you want?""Nothing important, sir," the corporal replied, "I'm just here to hook up your telephone."

If you need to contact me, please call my cell: 303-564-4778.

A LITTLE HUMOR:

Old folks are worth a fortune. With silver in their hair, gold in their teeth, stones in their kidneys, lead in their feet and gas in their stomachs.
_______________________________________________________________________
Two old men had been best friends for years, and they both live to their early 90's, when one of them suddenly falls deathly ill. His friend comes to visit him on his deathbed, and they're reminiscing about their long friendship, when the dying man's friend asks, "Listen, when you die, do me a favor. I want to know if there's baseball in heaven."

The dying man said, "We've been friends for years, this I'll do for you." And then he dies. A couple days later, his surviving friend is sleeping when he hears his friend's voice. The voice says, "I've got some good news and some bad news. The good news is that there's baseball in heaven."

"What's the bad news?"

"The bad news is that you're pitching on Wednesday."

An archaeologist was digging in the Negev Desert in Israel and came upon a casket containing a mummy. After examining it, he called the curator of a prestigious natural-history museum. "I've just discovered a 3,000 year-old mummy of a man who died of heart failure!" the excited scientist exclaimed. To which the curator replied, "Bring him in. We'll check it out." A week later, the amazed curator called the archaeologist. "You were right about the mummy's age and cause of death. How in the world did you know?" "Easy. There was a piece of paper in his hand that said, '10,000 Shekels on Goliath'."
