Hosanna Cyberline - January 5, 2007

Happy Epiphany,

Tomorrow, January 6, is the day of Epiphany, which commemorates the visit of the Magi, as recorded in the gospel of Matthew. Hosanna celebrates Epiphany with a bilingual Spanish-English service, tomorrow @ 6 PM. Pastor Erbey Gonzalez, of Ascension Lutheran, Tomball, will officiate. A bilingual service may become a part of our regular schedule. Come see how this unique worship service is done and meet some new people.

The January 2007 Hotline was mailed last week. Here is the website link for those who do not get the printed version: http://www.welcometohosanna.com/monthly_news.pdf

And, here is the Assisting Minister Schedule for January:

Note that soon you will be able to make contributions on-line through our web site. Details will be published in upcoming Cyberlines, also in the newsletters.

Postcard reminders about the three special ASK, THANK, TELL worship services on January 14, 21 and 28 are being sent out. Also, check the new ASK, THANK, TELL link on the home page of the Hosanna web site. It has inks to 4 PDF files: a 4-part discussion of Ask, Thank, Tell by Charles R. Lane. Please print them out and go through the sessions. There will be special sermons at each service and a potluck after the January 28 service. BE SURE TO SIGN UP IN THE SOUTH NARTHEX.

I STILL NEED SEVERAL ANNUAL REPORTS. SO FAR I HAVE RECEIVED A FRACTION OF WHAT IS REQUIRED. I NEED THEM ASAP!

Consider being a part of the Sabbatical Team to insure the summer months, when Pastor Tart is on sabbatical, go smoothly.

The Men of Hosanna Annual Breakfast is Saturday, January 20 at Luby's Cafeteria on FM 1960. Coffee is available @ 7:45 AM. Cost is $7. Bring a friend or neighbor--a good way to introduce someone to Hosanna.

The Wednesday Morning Bible study this week focuses on the wedding at Cana.

A new FLOWER CHART for 2007 has been posted in the South Narthex. Honor a loved one, remember a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion while beautifying our worship services.

Seniors... Don't forget the Potluck/game day this coming Tuesday, January 9 @ 9:30 AM

Two items from Nickie Brooks: Thanks to all who helped with IHN (Interfaith Hospitality Network) over the Christmas holiday. And... A new food coordinator is needed for IHN. This is Hosanna's special mission to help families who for whatever reason are left homeless. Please consider giving of your time.

Coming in March (Saturday the 4th): Hosanna Craft Fair to benefit the Mulkey Scholarship Endowment. It starts at 9 AM. Booth fee is $50 for a 10' x10' booth. Email Beth Chaney: basketlady196@sbcglobal.net or Amber Walker: amber.walker@welcometohosanna.com

That's the news for this week. Here's the humor:

Actual Newspaper Headline:
"Astronaut takes blame for gas in spacecraft."

Some questions asked of a zoo tour bus driver:
"Will we see animals on the tour?"

"How long is the 35-minute bus tour?"

"There are signs all over with maps indicating 'You are here.' Why don't you put that on the hand-held maps so we can figure out where we are?"

God bless your week,
Dale Bargmann, Hosanna Parish Communications
