From the Call Committee… CALL PROCESS CONGREGATIONAL SURVEY

EACH VOTING MEMBER OF HOSANNA… Please fill out the “Congregation Survey” included with this week’s bulletin. This is the next step in the process of calling a pastor. The form is also online at http://www.welcometohosanna.com/Congregational_Survey_Call_Committee.pdf. Place completed forms in the wooden boxes on the tables by the Sanctuary entrance, or mail them to Hosanna (16526 Ella Blvd., Houston, TX 77090). Deadline for submitting the completed survey form is Sunday, November 4.

This is Blood Drive Sunday. Stop by the van in the parking lot and save a life.

• The Gulf Coast Lutheran Men in Mission Fall 2007 Gathering

• Fall general meeting for the Hosanna Women of the ELCA is Sunday, October 21 @ 12:30 PM in the library. All women are invited to attend.
• Fall Family Festival, hosted by Hosanna WELCA, is Saturday, October 27, 4:30-6:30 PM. See the poster in the Narthex to sign up your family and friends and tell us what food dish you will bring to share.
• Return of YMCA Tumbling at Hosanna with Coach LouisTuesday nights @ 5:45-6:30 PM for ages 3-5 years Registration is monthly: $18/month for Facility Members$24/month for Program Members
• November Senior’s Trip to Santa’s Wonderland near College Station. Friday, November 16 (be at Hosanna by 3 PM; Bus leaves @ 3:15 PM and returns to Hosanna around 9:30 PM. Cost: $23 per person (includes dinner)
• New… Weekly Prayer Group meets every Wednesday @ 5:15-5:45 PM in the Library. They will be praying for the men and women in leadership roles who will be facing many decisions that affect the Hosanna church family. Experience the power of praying together described in Matthew 18:19-20. Come show your support for our leaders.

Family Life notes from Amber Walker...

• Confirmation Banquet this Sunday, October 14 @ 5 PM, at Strack’s Restaurant.
• Confirmation rehearsal 4 pm at church then proceed to banquet.
• No CREW this Sunday evening due to Confirmation banquet.
• Confirmation Sunday is next Sunday, October 21 at 11 AM worship.
• Your help is needed one more time before the new playground is installed. A few men have been working non-stop to get the yard ready for the playground, but they need help. Saturday, October 20, please consider giving a couple hours of your time to spread the playground mulch. The playground will be installed the week before the Fall Festival. Meet that morning at 8 am. This should only take a couple of hours, so we can all pitch in for the greater good.
• “Share, Save, Spend,” Parent-Teen Weekend Getaway at Lutherhill, October 26-27 (See flyer on the table by the Sanctuary for details).
• CREW: Lutheran Youth talk on Sexuality, October 28. For information or questions, contact Amber.
• Coming Reformation Sunday (October 28): a celebration for young and old. Join the kids and Hosanna Brass to celebrate this special day. For more information see Jan Dietzmann.

Adult Education Opportunities…

• Sunday Adult Education @ 9:30 AM features Luther: Gospel, Law and Reformation by Professor Phillip Cary. This 24-week course is led by Pastor Paul Frerking.
• Wednesday Morning Bible Study @ 10 AM - This weekly study, led by Pastor Bill, focuses on the lessons for the following Sunday. There’s always hot coffee and treats. Afterward the fellowship continues with an inexpensive (and optional) lunch at a nearby restaurant.
• Monday nights @ 7 PM, weekly, study group continues at the Bargmann residence: 16523 Brightling Lane, in Ella Crossing, just south of Hosanna (less than 5 minutes away).

A Little Humor

Once there was a dishonest painter who used to water down his paint far too much. One day, as he was painting the steeple of a church building, thunderclouds gathered and rain washed all his thinned-down paint away. A booming voice called out from heaven, saying, "Repaint, and thin no more."

One more for good measure…

"Teacher," Tommy asked in Sunday school, "I don't understand. You're always saying that 'the children of Israel did this' and 'the children of Israel did that.' Didn't the grownups ever do anything?"
